About Ms. Síle Headen
After studying Natural Science Machado founder Ms. Síle Headen worked in a Microbiology Laboratory. She became interested in Organic Natural Cosmetics and sustainability through researching the science of traditional cold processed soapmaking. She then completed Advanced Skincare Courses in Scotland under the supervision of Mike Harmon (who made Elizabeth Taylor’s bespoke skincare).
Through working with developing female cosmetic ranges Síle found herself at a Tradeshow in Hamburg where she first noticed a lack of quality natural products for men. Upon returning to Ireland Síle began researching quality natural ingredients for formulating men’s grooming and cosmetic products. She developed a shaving range and a luxury beard care range using organic oils.
Síle comes from Co.Laois and is focused on using sustainable ingredients. She is passionate about Myrtle Essential Oil and believes it is the essence of the heartlands of Ireland. The boglands in Ireland are covered in Bog Myrtle and that’s where the creative product inspiration arose. Although Machado currently use Greek and Scottish Myrtle they are in the process of obtaining an Irish Organic Myrtle Oil to use in the products as it is a high quality native Irish Oil from the Wild and Wonderful peatlands in Ireland.
Síle completed the Enterprise Ireland supported New Frontiers Programme in I.T. Carlow. She has currently accepted a Scholarship to study Women’s Entrepreneurship through Cornell University, NY, USA.
